Classic Knax coat hook goes multicoloured

Design duo Thomas Harrit and Nicolai Sørensen designed the Knax coat hook back in 1993 since when it has gone on to sell in its thousands. Manufactured in a small factory in Denmark, the self retracting hooks have been copied the world over but never equalled.

Now the producers Loca have added a extra dimension to the tactile collection with the introduction of 8 special colours...

Dixie pendant by Louise Hederström

An interesting new pendant from bsweden. Dixie, designed by Louise Hederström, takes its influences from the silhouettes of the 1950’s and incorporates wide skirts and a slim waist. The threaded construction allows the rigid form of the lampshade to adopt a soft expression when lit. Louise Hederström is the designer previously responsible for the Gladys, Grace and Dolly lights.

We nervously await the price tag...

Happy Daze and Knopp

The first blog of the new decade features two new designs by Phil Craske. The Happy Daze drawer unit is a solo effort that is currently being produced at his studio in Yorkshire whilst the Knopp table was designed in collaboration with young Dane, Søren Stendevad. The two furniture designers met at college in Leeds where they connected through their mutual passion for traditional wooden craftsmanship.

Happy Daze is produced in solid walnut with indented round button handles in contrasting oak. The curved legs give the design its destinctive shape, reminiscent of an inverted fifties television.

Knopp also incorporates an unusual leg silhouette to distinguish it. The rounded feet are rubber coated and available in several colours. The designers are now working on a range of wood and formica tops...
