If you were one of the prudes offended by the athletic model’s taut butt cheeks we apologise. If you weren’t then here’s another look… (JH)

the bare cheek of it
Occasionally we forget that what’s considered natural here in Scandinavia may cause offence elsewhere in the world. After receiving 23 email complaints for displaying a banner on our shop website which showed a man dressed only in a pair of Mow Living oven gloves, we have reluctantly agreed to cover his modesty with a TV cushion from Neon Living.

Doomed Favourites
Marimekko produces a huge assortment of fabrics and accessories, and since they bring out several seasonal collections every year, they sometimes have to get rid of some old designs to make way for the new ones. I guess they decide to discontinue things that don’t sell so well any more, but I’m always a bit sad to see my old favourites go.
The Marimekko newsletter of this morning had list of no less than 182 fabrics that are going to disappear, and that’s not even including the coated cotton and upholstery varieties! One of my all time Marimekko favourites, Turbulent by Iiro Ahokas, in this amazingly psychedelic red and blue
had already been given the chop six months ago, so I guess it was inevitable that the more neutral but still very cool monochrome had to go too.

But what was really shocking was that Maija Isola’s haunting classic Tuuli from 1971 also has to give way to new designs.

The spring collection of 2009 had better be damn good to justify this! (Vicki)
